Job Specifications & Details

Role Overview

BrainShells is looking for a strong Tech Lead to take charge of the technical implementation of a mobile online game. The game engine is already prepared; the task is to build the application itself (backend and frontend) on top of it. This is a key role in a small team with minimal management layers. You will work directly with the project founder, Lead Game Producer, and developers, being responsible for all technical decisions and code quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop the application (backend and frontend) based on the ready-made game engine: architecture, technical solutions, standards, pipeline. • Coordinate the work of developers (Unity Developer, Full-stack Developer), assign tasks, and monitor their execution. • Hire and onboard new developers as the project grows. • Personally write code and participate in the implementation of key project systems — client and server parts. • Organize client-server interaction: API, state synchronization, backend operations. • Ensure code quality: review, best practices, build stability. • Articulately defend technical estimates and solutions to the Lead Game Producer. • Interact with designers, artists, and QA, helping to transform game mechanics into working technical solutions.

Requirements & Qualifications

• 7-8 years of development experience. • Experience in mobile application/game development — successfully launched projects in the portfolio are mandatory (not prototypes or abandoned projects). • Proficient in both Cocos Creator (JavaScript/TypeScript) and Unity (C#). • Full-stack development experience. • Client-server development experience, understanding network interaction for multiplayer mechanics. • Experience building an application from scratch on top of a ready-made engine/platform. • Experience in hiring and coordinating a development team. • Strong engineering foundation: architecture, patterns, clean and maintainable code. • Autonomy — making technical decisions without excessive approvals. • Fluent Russian language.
